What is TECS?

TECS is child abuse training created by the Child Abuse Pediatricians at The Center for Miracles at CHRISTUS Children’s in San Antonio and by Evidentia Learning.

Who's it for?

Anyone in Texas who serves kids who may have been mistreated. That includes law enforcement, DFPS, CACs, MDTs, first responders, medical team members, educators, and many more.

Continuing Education Credits
Earn up to 5.5 AMA PRA Category 1 Credit™

CHRISTUS Santa Rosa Health Care is accredited by the Texas Medical Association to provide continuing medical education for physicians. CHRISTUS Santa Rosa Health Care designates this live activity for a maximum of 5.5 AMA PRA Category 1 Credit™. Physicians should claim only the credit commensurate with the extent of their participation in the activity.

Earn up to 5.5 NCPD Contact Hours

Earn up to 5.5 NCPD contact hours upon successful completion of these activities; earn 0.5 NCPD contact hours for each activity.

CHRISTUS Santa Rosa Health System is approved as a provider of nursing continuing professional development by Louisiana State Nurses Association, an accredited approver by the American Nurses Credentialing Center's Commission on Accreditation. LSNA Provider No. 4002072.

To receive contact hours for each nursing continuing professional development activity, the participant must attend the full activity and complete a post course evaluation. Each activity is open and available to provide NCPD (Nursing Continuing Professional Development) from August 14, 2024 to August 14, 2026.

Continuing Education for Mental Health Professionals

Earn up to 5.5 Continuing Education credits for mental health professionals (e.g., social workers, counselors, psychologists).

Medical Ethics and/or Professional Responsibility Credits

Texas physicians are required to complete at least 2 hours of formal training involving the study of medical ethics and/or professional responsibility, including courses in risk management, domestic abuse, or child abuse. TECS hours may be designated for ethics and/or professional responsibility training. Please refer to the Texas Medical Association for additional requirements.
